Konnect Pty Ltd (ACN 619 991 123) trading as Alan's Property Services ("Konnect", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information that we collect, hold, use and disclose.
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. WHAT IS PERSONAL INFORMATION
Personal information is information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable. Sensitive information is a sub-set of personal information that includes information about an individual's racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, health, criminal record and other categories defined in the Privacy Act.
3. WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Depending on our relationship with you, we may collect the following personal information:
- contact details (name, address, telephone, email);
- identification documents (driver's licence, passport, Medicare card) where required for verification, tenancy application or anti-money laundering / counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) purposes;
- financial information (income, employment, rental history, bank account details) where required for tenancy application, rental disbursement, or sales settlement;
- transaction information (agency agreements, offers, contracts, settlement details);
- background checks (rental references, tenancy database information) where required and authorised; and
- any other personal information you provide to us in the course of our dealings with you.
4. HOW WE COLLECT PERSONAL INFORMATION
We collect personal information directly from you wherever practicable, including when you:
- engage us under a sales, buyers or property management agency agreement;
- inspect a property we are marketing, or attend an open home;
- submit a tenancy application;
- contact us by telephone, email, online form or in person; or
- provide identification or supporting documents in the course of a transaction.
Where we collect personal information from a source other than you (for example, a tenancy database, a public register, a referrer or your conveyancer), we will take reasonable steps to notify you.
5. WHY WE COLLECT, HOLD, USE AND DISCLOSE PERSONAL INFORMATION
We collect, hold, use and disclose personal information for the following purposes:
- to provide our real estate sales, buyers agency, and property management services to you and our other clients;
- to assess tenancy applications and manage tenancies on behalf of landlord clients;
- to facilitate sales settlements, including dealings with conveyancers, solicitors, financiers, government registers and the Foreign Investment Review Board (where relevant);
- to verify identity, including for AML/CTF customer due diligence purposes (from 1 July 2026);
- to communicate with you about our services, including marketing communications where you have consented or where otherwise permitted by law;
- to manage trust account receipts and disbursements;
- to comply with our legal obligations under the Property and Stock Agents Act 2002 (NSW), the Residential Tenancies Act 2010 (NSW), the AML/CTF Act 2006 (Cth), the Privacy Act and other applicable laws; and
- to respond to and resolve complaints.
6. WHO WE DISCLOSE PERSONAL INFORMATION TO
We may disclose personal information to:
- our outsourced service providers, including Vigorous Solutions Pty Ltd (ABN 59 635 351 076), our trust account bookkeeper, and our appointed independent trust account auditor;
- software providers that we use to manage our business, including PropertyMe;
- tenancy databases (where permitted by law) and credit reporting / referee checks;
- financiers, conveyancers, solicitors and other professional advisers acting in connection with a sale or letting;
- government agencies and regulators, including NSW Fair Trading, AUSTRAC (from 1 July 2026), the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), the Australian Taxation Office, and the courts and tribunals;
- our professional indemnity insurer and any related claims handlers, where required to deal with a claim or potential claim; and
- any other third party with your consent or as required or authorised by law.
7. CROSS-BORDER DISCLOSURE (APP 8)
We aim to store personal information in Australia. Some of our software providers may host data outside Australia. Where we disclose personal information to an overseas recipient, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that the recipient handles the information in a manner consistent with the APPs.
8. HOW WE HOLD AND PROTECT PERSONAL INFORMATION
We hold personal information in electronic form (on our cloud drives, in PropertyMe, and in associated platforms) and in physical form (signed agreements, identification documents).
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including:
- role-based access controls, with individually-attributed login credentials and multi-factor authentication for systems containing personal information;
- encryption of data in transit and (where supported) at rest;
- secure storage of physical documents in a locked office;
- contractual obligations on our outsourced service providers to protect personal information; and
- staff and contractor training on privacy and information security.
9. NOTIFIABLE DATA BREACHES
If we experience a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to an affected individual, we will assess and (where required) notify the OAIC and the affected individuals in accordance with Part IIIC of the Privacy Act and our Data Breach Response Plan.
10. DIRECT MARKETING
We may use your personal information to send you marketing communications about properties, services and market updates that may be of interest to you. You can opt out of direct marketing at any time by following the unsubscribe link in any electronic communication or by contacting us using the details below. We comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) for electronic marketing and the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (Cth) for telemarketing where applicable.
11. ACCESSING AND CORRECTING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, and to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. We will respond to your request within a reasonable time, ordinarily 30 days. We may charge a reasonable cost-recovery fee for providing access in some circumstances.
12. COMPLAINTS
If you believe we have breached the Privacy Act or this Privacy Policy, please contact us using the details below. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
